"Where Families Are Prized, Help Is Free"

A very interesting article.  Apparently, Israel provides free, unlimited IVF procedures until a woman is 45.  A few quotes talk about how much they value life, which I don't dispute but certainly encouraging more children in Israel is an apparent goal.  It's an eye-opening article.

  1. I didn't know that about Israel, although I can say its not that surprising. Birth-line and Jewish ethnicity are very important even within the religion since for a child to be considered "Jewish" it has to be born of a Jewish woman and you're considered Jewish if you have any Jewish blood at all-regardless if you practice, so I can see blood-lineage being very important from a political standpoint in Israel.

Theologically, Christ opened salvation up to us all, not just the chosen people, so I have a feeling that's why Christians support adoption much more. Adoption is literally built into our religion, through St. Joseph and Christ. Love is ultimately what's more important than blood. Good reminders.

  2. WOW! What an interesting twist! I had never even thought of this. But also a little sad - it would be cheaper for Israel and better for the women if they took a more natural approach, and funded that instead. I wonder if they fund more Natural treatments towards restoring fertility?
